A swap body is an interchangeable loading container that can be easily separated from the carrier vehicle. They are widely used for intermodal transport of all kinds of goods, so that there are many different variants.
Most swap bodies have attachment points for twistlocks at the same dimensions as a (20') ISO Container. This makes transport on units designed for shipping containers possible.
In order for swap bodies to be used for combined transport (transfer from lorry to train and vice versa), there must be gripping points on the underside for special gripping arms with which the whole can be lifted.)
There are also a large number of variants which also have attachment points for twistlocks on the top by which the unit can be lifted.
(**) Dimensions and weights may vary from one type to another.
